The Scrub feature of Identity Finder for Windows allows users to redact sensitive information from within specific file types while leaving the rest of the file undisturbed. This feature is available for Microsoft Office 2007 and later files in XML format, but is not available for Microsoft Office files in the older, binary format such as Office 2003 and earlier.
When Office 2003 and earlier files are searched, Scrub is not an available action. When it is desirable or necessary to scrub Office 2003 and earlier files, they must first be upgraded to at least Office 2007 format, searched again in the new format with Identity Finder, and then the Scrub action will be available.
